King Island being a remote island situated between Victoria and Tasmania is accessed by visitors generally by plane. Many first time visitors may not have travelled on a small plane beforehand and although very safe the anticipation of the flight heightens one’s senses in a positive way. Arriving at the terminal the calm and small number of people boarding the plane to King island creates a friendly and social atmosphere which adds to the holiday experience.

the story behind the name
Ettrick Rocks as known by locals is adjacent to the river Ettrick, the river named after an 8 ton Cutter that was wrecked there around 1847 and owned by the Bass Strait ‘policeman’ David Howie. The name of the location befitted the name of our coastal and luxurious accommodation retreats.

If you intend to explore the island at your leisure a hire car is essential and we can organize an appropriate vehicle to suit your requirements from a simple sedan, a mini-bus for small travelling groups to utility vehicles , SUV and four-wheel drive for the adventurous.
